Our top tips to youthful skin By Sophie Page RETINOL Guide The Ultimate Retinol is having its ‘moment’ in the skincare world right now. You see it in night creams, eye creams, and more! But what exactly is this ingredient and why has it got everyone online talking? Retinol is a form of vitamin A, but gentler on the skin (as the active ingredient has a lower concentration). Retinol is for skin renewal, improving fine lines/wrinkles, promoting collagen production and pigmentation. To begin your retinol journey start by applying a thin layer to your skin once or twice a week, to build your skin’s tolerance. Once you’ve seen how your skin reacts then you can build it up to three times a week or every other day. Make sure you apply moisturiser immediately after retinol to lock in moisture, soothe any irritations caused and help to seal in the retinol - enhancing its effectiveness. Retinol can enhance your skin’s sensitivity to UV rays - so make sure you only use retinol in the evening and you use SPF the following morning. You will find retinol in eye creams, serums and night creams. Here are our retinol recommendations for each one. NOVEMBER 2024 10
