“I get hundreds of messages a week and I reply to every single one. I’m not a superhero, but I’ve been there and been through it” Zara is now raising awareness of the condition. She shares video demonstrations on TikTok (@ZaraLenaJackson), including how to put on and remove a wig, and has even launched a cosmetics line, Zaralena Cosmetics, with products designed to mimic hair fibres and follicles. Through her work, Zara has become a soundboard for women with hair loss. “I get hundreds of messages a week and I reply to every single one,” she says. “I’m not a superhero, but I’ve been there and been through it.” Her greatest advice? “Fight for whatever you can get. Go to the doctors and make them do blood tests. Go to a dermatologist, either through the NHS or privately. Demand treatments as there are treatments available.” Reflecting on how far she’s come, Zara says: “I’ve overcome a lot that I never thought I’d have to face. I’m at a point where I’m happy with who I am. You have to look at your silver linings and you’ve got to be very positive.” HAIR LOSS AWARENESS
