But it isn’t all doom and gloom, she assures: “Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is the first line of treatment and works to replace those hormones your body is lacking, as well as helps to safeguard your future health by reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.” But good menopause management doesn’t stop at HRT. Dr Newson says: “When it comes to skin and hair-related symptoms, it is important to study your skin and decide what you need, rather than what you think you might need: your routine should be unique to your needs and skin concerns.” What’s more? “A balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg and getting outdoors and doing plenty of exercise is essential,” Dr Newson advises.
